The library's tradition of serving Warren County with bookmobiles is a long one. The service began in 1931, when the library had only one location in Belvidere, with the original bookmobile providing materials to residents at "home stations." Over the years eleven vehicles have served the county, adapting to the county's needs and additional branches as well as the possibilities created by technological advances. Today's bookmobile was acquired in 2009. It currently visits nineteen preschools, daycare centers and a few elementary schools in the lending district and is also a bright presence at the Farmer's Fair and various other community days and events. Its goals include promoting literacy and a love of reading in children and familiarization with library use and practices.
